WARNING: This item contains #7 plastic in the top filter (the black part in the picture). If you want your daily dose of BPA each time you pour hot coffee through the filter, this is the french press for you. Nowhere does Bodum list that they make their presses with dangerous plastics. Why they couldn't just go with stainless steel for the top filter is beyond me.
Purchased this coffee press for my 91 year old father-in-law who had just had his first "pressed" cup of coffee in England, visiting family. Bought if for him for Father's Day and it was a tremendous hit. I tried the coffee as well, as I had not had "pressed" coffee before, and this coffee press was easy, made a great cup of coffee, was very reasonably priced, and now my mother in law is collecting the grounds for her garden.
.3 very small cups. This is an overpriced French press (FP) IMO. I have had better for less, and if you need to make a cup for more than 1 person get a larger FP.
I like the 12 cup press so that there will be enough for about 3-4 people. I love the taste of the coffee made in this french press. The coffee is robust, smooth and creamy.can't get that from an electric coffee maker. Remember the European cup is smaller than the typical American coffee cup. Enjoy.
This is a probably fine product - for a 2 cup coffee press (I ordered the 4 cup). I can't think of any decent reason other than advertising to misrepresent the size of this item. True - it may make 4 - 4 oz cups of coffee, but at that point you are no longer using any sort of standard meaning for the word cup, and you might as well assign it any number of cups which suits your fancy. I'll be exchanging my 17 cup press for one of a more suitable size.
